I've had a couple great runs, including a 2 hour, 41 minute romp on the Ice Age Trail through 6 inches of new snow. This weekend I'm hoping to run a total of 6 hours on trails, including the entire Ice Age Trail 50k course.
I've got a seminar near Milwaukee, so I'm camping out in the woods near the trail and making a weekend of it. I. Can't. Wait.
Check out Steve Q's recent post on 50 milers. It's great stuff...especially this:
I've continued [to run ultras] because of the following reasons: 1) The people you meet doing these things are great. 2) The scenery is worth the trip. 3) I keep thinking I'm learning what I need to do, but keep getting surprised; surprises like that are rare. 4) In a group of mud-caked sweaty middle-aged guys, I look pretty good.
Besides the 'mud-caked' part (my next 50 miler will be on roads), he's spot on! While you're there, wish him a speedy recovery as well.

(Whoops...signed in as my wife. But hey--more comments!)
Ian and I were at the Phils-Brewers game where the Phils (and Doc) lost, 9-zip. The night before? Close game, extra innings (but the Phillies lost, 6-3, Kyle Kendrick's ONE bad outing so far). The night after? Phils won, 4-3, in a nail-biter.
Whud we get?
A 9-0, 2-hit shellacking where there was little for us to cheer about.
We still had a good time.
Next game: 5/22 against Texas. Chooch t-shirt day for Ian! He can't wait!
Phils just lost their second series of the year to the D-Backs. Have to win today to avoid a series sweep.
So far the best thing about getting Phillies games thru DirecTV Extra Innings is getting other teams' broadcasters. Don't much care for the Marlins' guys; Nationals' guys not a whole lot better.
But I really like the D-backs' guys. Especially Mark Grace. He's funny and both he and the other guy don't trash talk the opponent. They're actually pretty appreciative of good play, no matter by whom.
Still, I like it best when we get the Philly guys ...
Thanks for the shout out, Nic.
