Instead of breaking down my week day by day, I'll just let you know that it didn't go as planned. Still, I managed 6 hours total, with my first 2 hour long run in a while. I ran it on the Glacial Trail course (which I am really aiming towards in the Fall of '12), and it was great to be back on the trails. It's not often that I can still be on the trails without snow at this time of year, so I soaked it up. I really need to start carrying a camera--I saw several forms of wildlife and even a dead cat along the Ice Age Trail on my trip.
My love of that trail has me thinking that I'd like to run the entire 31.6 mile Northern Kettle Moraine segment of it this Thursday. I'm definitely not in shape to do very well at it, but I think I can break 4 hours and enjoy every minute of it. Gotta work out the details with Ellie, first :)
While on today's run, with a 25 lb weight vest on, I was feeling some issues in my right Plantar Fascia. Definitely something to keep an eye on before I put 31 miles on my feet.

I hope this guy doesn't spend too much time away.
Interesting discussion here on money in ultras. I'm not sure how you seperate capitalism (i.e. money in ultras) and competition. My opinion: if the RD provides what he says he's going to, then that sounds good to me. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I LOVE the North Face event in Madison, and at the same time I LOVE the Glacial Trail event, which are very near opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the ultra event spectrum. I really appreciate GZ's opinions on the topic.
13 - 0, baby. Let's keep it rolling. This is a once-in-a-lifetime season, so pay attention. I was told that Aaron Rodgers is the third-oldest player on the team...which, if that's true...is an AMAZING stat!
Interesting lineup thus far, with many fast people yet to qualify via the Montrail Ultra Cup races (of which Ice Age is one). It'll be interesting to see the different approaches to both Hardrock and Western.
Ellie is 36 weeks along. I can't wait.
